Lawn Mower Accidents

The warmer seasons in Michigan bring us many different things.  Keeping up with your landscaping and cutting the grass is a major one.  Most of us will cut our grass approximately 30 times this season.  An estimated 80,000 people are injured by lawn mowers each year.  In a recent study conducted by researchers at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, lawn mower accidents are the leading cause of amputation in children under 10.  Lawn mower accidents cause over 51% of traumatic amputations among children.

There are many ways this can be prevented.  Be sure to take all safety precautions when mowing the lawn.  Make sure that any children are aware of the dangers of playing with or around a lawn mower, whether it is turned on or off.  Please follow the link below to read further information and extended safety measures to take.
